This trail was established in 1990 on a segment of the abandoned Chicago and Northwestern railroad right-of-way, running east and west through the City. A segment of the right-of-way is owned by Wisconsin Power and Light Company and is leased to the City and County for a multi-use recreation trail. The trail is 2.5 miles long, starting at the Ripon Public Library in downtown Ripon. The trail runs northwest to C.T.H. PP at the Fond du Lac-Green Lake County line. The Northwestern Trail passes by Eagle Park, and it is used for walking, skiing, and snowmobiling. The trail connects to Lauree’s Trail to Green Lake.
